The IWC Portugieser Automatic 42 (ref. IW501708) refines one of the brand’s most recognisable designs with an elegant combination of precious metal and a distinctive ice-blue dial. A 2024 release, it continues the lineage of the larger Portugieser automatics, adding subtle technical and visual updates in a more compact, wear-friendly format.

Its 42.4mm case is rendered in white gold and measures 12.9mm in height, offering balanced proportions on the wrist. The sunray ice-blue dial features the classic Portugieser layout – small seconds at 9 o’clock, and a power reserve indicator at 3 – punctuated by slim Arabic numerals and feuille hands. Inside, the automatic calibre 52011 powers the watch with a seven-day reserve. This refined movement builds on the architecture of the calibre 52010, equipped with IWC’s Pellaton winding system and a twin barrel for extended autonomy. Water resistance is rated to 30 m.
